Library
Critical to Purdue's research efforts is its world-class Library, staffed by specialists in
medical, scientific, and business information.
Purdue's commitment to research and scientific inquiry is evident in its strong
support of the Library & Information Services group. The Library provides
an intellectual center for medical, business, law, marketing, and regulatory
staff members.
Electronic resources extend our research capabilities beyond the four walls of our buildings.
Premium medical, scientific, business, and industry sources are available throughout the
company. These information services include IDdb, Science Direct, Factiva News Service
from Dow Jones and Reuters, and many others. Our scientists use Double Twist for sequence
analysis, Beilstein's Crossfire for chemical information, and SciFinder to research both patents
and chemistry.
The Purdue Library maintains extensive coverage of biotechnology, medicine, pharmacology,
chemistry, and business. The Library's collection of literature on pain is recognized as
outstanding.
In a recent benchmarking survey of major pharmaceutical company libraries, Purdue was
ranked "best in class" in several areas including the ability to deliver information sources to
users' desktops and demonstration of leadership in intranet management and planning.
With access to information on the latest advances in science and medicine, our scientists are
able to conduct innovative research into new treatments that will improve the lives of patients
and their families.
